Imphal: The Kuki National Front (KNF) has issued a formal statement vehemently denying any involvement in the disappearance of six Naga civilians on May 13. The organization characterized viral social media posters linking them to the incident as malicious, factually void, and part of a broader smear campaign. According to the KNF, these digital assets are AI-generated propaganda intended to provoke communal unrest and tarnish the reputation of the outfit and its leadership, specifically United People's Front Chairman ST. Thangboi Kipgen.
Addressing the ongoing crisis in the Kangpokpi and Ukhrul districts, the KNF condemned the spread of unverified information. The group urged the public, civil society, and the media to exercise caution and avoid disseminating fabricated narratives that could exacerbate existing tensions. They emphasized that their mission remains focused on the protection of Kuki-Zo people and their ancestral lands, while reaffirming a commitment to democratic engagement and peaceful resolution.
The KNF has warned that it may pursue legal action against individuals or entities responsible for the creation and circulation of defamatory content. This development unfolds within a volatile environment marked by conflicting reports, including claims that fourteen Kuki-Zo individuals are currently being held captive by opposing groups. Amidst these accusations, the organization maintains its innocence and calls for evidence-based discourse to prevent further destabilization of the region.
