Imphal: The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has formally condemned the killing of two church workers in the Kultuh village of Kamjong district. The apex body is now demanding an independent judicial inquiry into the incident, which involved a pre-dawn raid by armed assailants.

The victims were Letminlun Haokip, a 34-year-old general secretary of KBC Circle No. 17 and head deacon of the local church, and 36-year-old Lunminthang Haokip, who served as the youth chairman and secretary for the same church circle. According to the organization, the attackers mutilated the bodies of the victims before setting them on fire.

KIM claims the assailants were members of the NSCN-IM’s Eastern Flank and cadres from the Myanmar-based Shanni Nationalities Army. The group stated, "The organisation alleged that the attackers were members of NSCN-IM’s Eastern Flank and Myanmar-based Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA) cadres." Additionally, they reported that witnesses observed local civilians assisting the attackers.

The organization has urged both the central government and the Manipur administration to arrest those responsible and bolster security along the Indo-Myanmar border. Their demands include the establishment of permanent security outposts, increased patrols, compensation for the affected families, and the reconstruction of damaged property to address these escalating security concerns.
