Imphal: Three Kuki youths were injured during a violent clash in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on Monday. The incident occurred in the border region between Leilon Vaiphei and Konsakhul villages. The victims, identified as 18-year-old Genlenmang Vaiphei, 20-year-old Lunliandaw Vaiphei, and 18-year-old Paogou Lal, were initially taken to a military hospital in Leimakhong before being transferred to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal under security escort.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur, the apex body for the Kuki community, has demanded that the government and security forces identify and prosecute those responsible for the violence. The organisation specifically attributed the attack to the NSCN-IM and the ZUF-K, condemning the bombing as an inhumane act that endangers civilian lives and destabilises regional security.

The group expressed frustration over the perceived lack of accountability for armed factions operating in the district. In a statement regarding the ongoing situation, the organisation warned officials that, "Silence, delay, or inaction will only embolden the perpetrators and deepen public anger and mistrust."

While local residents reported hearing gunfire and experiencing panic, official reports from the Manipur Police and the district administration remain limited. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact sequence of events or the identity of the attackers, though security presence in the area has been increased to monitor the situation and prevent further unrest.
