Imphal: The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights filed a writ petition under Article 32 of the Constitution. They want the Supreme Court to clear a blockade choking Kuki-Zo villages in the Kangpokpi district of Manipur. The group claims this siege has strangled the region since May 17, 2026. Goods stopped moving. Lives stalled.
The organization blames the United Naga Council for the disruption. They claim this group enforces the blockade, which cuts off food, medicine, and fuel. State authorities have done nothing to stop it. The KWOHR argues that local officials failed to act despite the prolonged duration of the unrest.
Thousands of civilians suffer daily. The petition describes the ongoing situation as "collective punishment." The organization now waits for the Supreme Court to list the case for a hearing. They hope the court will force authorities to restore supply lines and protect the basic constitutional rights of those stranded in the district.
