Kohima: The Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry wants an end to multiple tax demands. Business owners must now follow the 1993 One Government, One Tax resolution established by the Angami Public Organisation. The decision follows a September 23 consultative meeting between the two groups. It specifically targets the ongoing issue of multiple tax collections hitting local shops and firms.
KCCI leaders issued a clear warning to all members, commercial establishments, and traders operating within their jurisdiction. If you pay unauthorized taxes, you act alone. The Chamber will not step in or take responsibility for any business owner who ignores this directive. The organization stated, "Any business owner, shopkeeper or firm that pays unauthorised taxes contrary to the resolution would do so at their own risk."
The Chamber acts as the primary voice for commerce throughout Kohima. It now expects full cooperation from all market committees, trade sections, and commercial operators to keep the rules uniform. If collectors show up using force or coercion, the KCCI wants traders to point them toward the APO office instead. The mandate remains active across all local markets and commercial operations starting immediately.
