Kohima Power Department Announces Month-Long Maintenance Shutdowns

Kohima: The Power Department in Kohima is cutting electricity across various regions starting October 2. Maintenance crews will clear vegetation and repair 132kV transmission lines through November 10. Workers will operate between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm daily. Power will drop during these windows. Officials confirmed these shutdowns are essential to stop future outages and keep the grid steady. "The department stated that the shutdowns are necessary to facilitate the maintenance work and avoid unwanted disruption while ensuring stable power supply."

Work begins on the 132kV Kohima-Karong line from October 2 to 3. Crews move to the 132kV Kohima-Zhadima-Chiephobozou line from October 5 to 7 to serve Zhadima. The 132kV Zhadima-NU line shuts October 8, impacting Northern Angami. Next, the 132kV Chiephobozou-Wokha line goes dark October 9 to 12. Maintenance shifts to the Wokha-Philimi and Wokha-Sanis lines from October 13 to 14 and October 15 to 17. The 132kV Sanis-Doyang DC line hits Sanis, Bhandari, Baghty, and Merapani on October 19 and 20.

Regional shutdowns continue late in the month. The 132kV Tuensang-Kiphire line closes October 22 to 28. Workers handle the 66kV Kiphire-Likimro line on October 29 and 30, affecting the LHEP area. The 132kV Kiphire-Meluri line follows from October 31 to November 3. Finally, the 132kV Meluri-Kohima line maintenance wraps up the schedule from November 4 to 10.
