Kohima: The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has officially commenced the transport of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) waste as part of its ongoing Dumpsite Legacy Waste Remediation Project. This initiative represents a major advancement in the city's commitment to sustainable waste management and the long-term restoration of the local environment.

A total of 11 tons of RDF material was dispatched to UMSO Mootang, located in Thangskai, Khelerihat, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. This waste is being provided free of cost to facilitate scientific processing and industrial utilization. The first consignment was formally flagged off by KMC Deputy Chairperson Thenusou Sekhose, with participation from the High School Ward Councilor, representatives from the Urban Development Department, and officials from the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Following the successful launch, KMC authorities have issued a strong appeal to the residents of Kohima. Officials requested that citizens cooperate in protecting the newly reclaimed site by strictly refraining from unauthorized waste dumping, ensuring that the remediation efforts remain effective for the community's future.
