Kohima District Legal Services Authority Marks World Environment Day with Plantation Drive

Kohima: The Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) observed World Environment Day on June 5 by hosting a cleanliness and tree planting drive. The event spanned the area from the KMC Parking in Upper Agri Colony to the Kohima Science College Jotsoma gate.

Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir participated in the effort alongside the KDLSA team. During the program, Mezivolu T. Therieh, Chairperson of the KDLSA and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kohima, thanked the district administration and the Divisional Forest Officer for their logistical and material support. The project featured a variety of fruit and cherry tree saplings provided by the forest department and Entrepreneur Associates.

Addressing the participants, Therieh stressed the collective responsibility of citizens to safeguard nature. She stated, "Every individual can contribute towards environmental conservation through small but meaningful actions and encouraged all participants to continue promoting a greener and healthier environment."

The event was led by KDLSA Secretary and Chief Judicial Magistrate Cheliam Khiamniungan, with support from panel lawyers Kusalu Lohe and Nuhuvolu. Volunteers, including KDLSA members and interns from St. Joseph College and Don Bosco College, successfully planted 130 saplings to conclude the day.
