Kohima: The 30th Alongtaki Assembly Constituency Congress Committee is demanding a transparent, impartial inquiry into the mystery surrounding the Mangkolemba Multi-Purpose Hall. This project falls under the Khelo India scheme. Committee president A. Chuba Longkumer and general secretary Tinuakum issued a statement on September 21 highlighting their alarm over the facility. They want the truth.
Mangkolemba serves as the primary hub for the Jangpetkong, Japukong, and Tsurangkong ranges. Because the site supports three distinct ranges, the committee argues that infrastructure failures hurt the entire region. They want authorities to open all records, including documents on project sanction, implementation, construction, and final use.
The committee insists that citizens deserve answers about where the money went and why the project stalled. They support local civil society groups currently pushing for oversight in the sub-division. During the announcement, the committee stated, "The 30th Alongtaki ACCC believes that seeking the truth is not an act of opposition for the sake of opposition; it is an essential part of democratic accountability."
The Congress leaders maintain that public projects must hold up under scrutiny. They vowed to back any democratic effort until the investigation reaches a logical conclusion.
