Mangkolemba CSO Calls Public Meeting Over Multipurpose Hall Dispute

Kohima: Mangkolemba leaders are taking a stand. The Civil Society Organisation of Mangkolemba called a public meeting for October 3 at the Mangkolemba Public Ground in Nokyu Ward. They are fed up with silence. The meeting follows the expiration of a 20-day ultimatum issued to the state government concerning the disputed Khelo India multipurpose hall.

The group notified the Additional Deputy Commissioner of their plans following an executive meeting held on September 28. They previously sent an ultimatum on September 7 to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and the MLA and Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports through Global Window. That deadline passed on September 27 with zero action. "No response has been received from the concerned authorities," the CSO stated in their letter.

Expect heavy disruptions during the assembly. The group ordered a ban on all vehicular movement and mandated that shops close from 6:00 AM until the meeting ends. Essential services remain exempt. Police, medical staff, administration, and schools will continue their normal operations despite the lockdown. Convenor I Tia Jamir and Secretary Wapongtoshi signed the official notification.
