Kohima: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) fired back at K Therie on Monday. It labeled his recent allegations as baseless and politically motivated. The party issued a sharp rejoinder via its Press Bureau. It branded Therie a "habitual party-hopper who has lost all political relevance" while dismissing his call for President’s Rule as undemocratic.
Nagaland currently holds an elected government. It operates with a clear mandate from the people. The NPF insists that Article 356 is reserved for the failure of constitutional machinery, not a shortcut for political goals. The party maintains its pledge to step aside once an honorable solution for the Naga issue emerges.
The NPF rejected claims of acting as a roadblock or maintaining a hidden alliance with the NSCN (IM). It declared that the state government acts only as a facilitator between Naga Political Groups and the Central Government. The party remains firm on its goal: an inclusive and lasting solution that keeps all political groups involved.
Addressing claims about a new interlocutor, the NPF called Therie’s narrative a product of his "wild imagination." It confirmed the Centre plans to appoint a ministerial-level Apex Committee. This follows a September 12, 2024, resolution signed by civil societies, Churches, and elected officials. The party also defended Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon against personal attacks, noting he was merely performing his official duties. They claim Therie’s recent praise for Dr. SC Jamir exposes his lack of core principles.
