Guwahati: Kaziranga University just released a fresh roadmap to transform the institution into a hub for research and innovation. The goal is simple. Build a globally connected engine for entrepreneurship across Assam and the Northeast.

Pro-Chancellor Basant Khetan signaled a hard pivot for the school. He stated, "The future of universities lies beyond awarding degrees. Universities must become engines of innovation, entrepreneurship, skill development and societal transformation."

Management backed the plan with cash. The school set aside a one-crore-rupee fund to bankroll student startups. Another three crore rupees will cover scholarships for top students.

Tech training leads the academic shift. The school is opening an Intel AI lab and launching new courses in electric vehicle technology and robotics. They also teamed up with the Institute of Analytics in the UK for data training. New industry ties include work with PwC and Bajaj.

Vice Chancellor Dr. M. L. Gaur took the helm in February 2026. He wants to stop teaching stale curriculum. He aims to turn students into job creators. The school is currently tightening its circle of influence. They are negotiating new research partnerships with outfits like Apollo Hospitals, L&T, and NEC Japan to help students land jobs in the emerging economy.
