Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Marks 75 Years of Self-Governance

Guwahati: The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council is preparing to host a landmark celebration for its 75th Foundation Day on June 23. This Platinum Jubilee honors seven decades of democratic self-governance under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, with commemorative events scheduled across Diphu and Hamren.

Proceedings begin at 8:00 am with the unfurling of the National Flag at the KAAC Secretariat in Diphu and the Branch Secretariat in Hamren. Shortly after, officials will pay tributes to visionary leaders Semson Sing Ingti, Khorsing Terang, and Sarsing Teron at their respective memorial sites.

Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang will preside over the main open session at 11:00 am as the Chief Guest, joined by Guest of Honour Amarsing Tisso. The council emphasizes that the day aims to highlight the organization's role in the region, stating the celebrations will focus on the "rich legacy of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council and its contributions towards self-governance, cultural preservation and socio-economic development in the hill districts over the past seven decades."

A cultural evening dedicated to the late Sum Ronghang begins at 5:00 pm, featuring the screening of the Karbi feature film TASAM. The day concludes at 6:00 pm with the ceremonial illumination of the KAAC Secretariat and all local government offices.
