Imphal: Kangpokpi district officials have rolled out a hard-hitting 10-point plan to shut down poppy farms and stop drug trafficking. Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari led a meeting with police, the BSF, and the CRPF to finalize the strategy. They need results. Agencies will now map out drug hotspots and send teams to burn down illegal fields.
Police and the Narcotics and Affairs of Border department are leading the enforcement push. They plan to tighten the screws on pharmacies to stop people from diverting prescription drugs. Officials also want to get village leaders involved in the fight. Education programs will target students to warn them about the lethal risks of substance abuse.
The plan looks at the big picture too. The district will offer farmers agricultural help to find other ways to make a living. Chaudhari praised the security teams but insisted on more work. He noted that they must maintain a "sustained collaboration between law enforcement authorities and local communities to build a drug-free Kangpokpi."
Regular meetings will keep the pressure on. Security forces will stay on high alert to handle any drug offenses. This combined approach aims to clear out illicit crops and keep addicts moving toward rehabilitation.
