Guwahati: Schools across the Kamrup Metropolitan district are preparing for a major cleanup operation following an official directive from the Inspector of Schools. Both government and private institutions must improve sanitation and beautify their campuses immediately to prepare for the arrival of high-profile dignitaries in Assam.

Inspector of Schools Dipika Choudhury issued the order on June 20, requiring heads of institutions to ensure their grounds are hygienic and presentable. A mandatory cleanliness drive is scheduled for June 21, which will involve students, teachers, and various stakeholders to ensure the environment remains welcoming.

The department has categorized the instruction as a priority matter requiring full compliance. The effort is tied to the anticipated visit of the Prime Minister of Japan. As the education department noted, the institutions must treat the matter as "most urgent and ensure full compliance."
