Guwahati: The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has unveiled a comprehensive safety and logistics plan for the upcoming Ambubachi Mela, scheduled from June 22 to June 26. With lakhs of devotees expected to visit the Kamakhya Temple in Assam, officials are coordinating efforts to manage crowds and support the massive influx of pilgrims.
District Commissioner Swapneel Paul detailed these preparations during a press briefing at the temple's Doloi Office on June 18. He confirmed that the administration will establish temporary camps at Pandu Port and Kamakhya Railway Station, alongside designated areas for community kitchens to feed the visiting crowds.
To maintain order on Nilachal Hill, authorities will regulate entry through the Nursery Point in Maligaon. This route will feature seven dedicated help desks and four control rooms to provide guidance and assistance to attendees. Government staff will remain on duty around the clock throughout the event to ensure coordination.
The administration stated that these measures aim to provide a safe and orderly experience for all visitors. Officials described the event as "one of the most significant religious events in the region," and they have committed to maintaining continuous services to support the spiritual gathering.
