Kohima: The Jalukie Pumling Youth Organisation is calling for immediate improvements to the NH-129A road project in Peren district, citing sluggish progress and substandard construction. During a recent site inspection, organization officials identified several issues, including incomplete drainage systems throughout various village areas. Where drains were installed, the work quality appeared poor, and many channels remain open, leading to waterlogging and blockages that endanger travelers.
The project is currently being managed by M/s AM Infrastructure Projects Pvt. Ltd. and M/s RN Infra Project, operating as a joint venture. The JPYO alleges that these contractors have failed to complete shoulder filling with aggregate chips as required by the work order. Additionally, the group reported that numerous roadside saplings planted as part of the project have withered and require immediate replacement.
Despite repeated warnings, the youth group believes the contractors lack the urgency needed to finish the project on schedule. The organization has urged authorities to oversee the remaining construction to ensure it meets safety and quality standards. Moving forward, the JPYO plans to conduct regular follow-up inspections to hold the contractors accountable for their work and protect the welfare of the local community.
