Guwahati: Five Indian Air Force personnel died following a tragic AN-32 transport aircraft crash at the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam on June 13. The aircraft went down while attempting to land during a routine sortie. The victims have been identified as Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveervayu Khemaram Kumawat, and Agniveervayu Danish Alam.

Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, a resident of Bihar's Jehanabad district, was the sole earning member of his family. His mother, Poonam Kumar, recalled her final conversation with him on the morning of the crash. She said, "I spoke to him yesterday morning. He told me that he was going on a mission. I didn't receive a call later, and then I got the news that the aircraft had crashed."

Family members noted that the pilot had recently visited his home in Bawaria village between May 5 and May 29, and the family had been discussing his upcoming marriage. The Indian Air Force transported the mortal remains of all deceased personnel to their respective native places on June 14 to hold final rites with full military honors. Officials have confirmed that a formal investigation into the cause of the crash is currently underway.
