Imphal: The Hmar Inpui officially cut ties with the Kuki-Zo Council. This move followed months of internal debate among tribal leaders. They sent a formal letter to KZC president Henlianthang Thanglet on July 1 to confirm the split. The decision stems from a resolution passed during the 15th Assembly on April 16.

Hmar Inpui originally joined the council to unite Zohnathlak tribes under one political banner. That goal slipped away. They believe the KZC strayed from its intended path. The group claims the council no longer represents the collective interests of all tribes involved.

"Hmar Inpui has come to the considered view that KZC has not adequately upheld the principle of inclusivity among all Zohnathlak tribes," the letter stated. The organization noted that the council failed to evolve into the unified platform everyone expected at the start.

The group is now looking ahead. They remain willing to talk with other stakeholders to build a broader, more inclusive political future. Hmar Inpui leaders expressed gratitude for past cooperation while wishing the KZC members luck in their future work.
