Imphal: The Hmar Inpui is done with the Kuki-Zo Council. The apex organization for the Hmar tribe formally split from the group on July 1. This follows a resolution passed during their 15th General Assembly held back in April.

Leaders from the group, which holds its headquarters in Churachandpur, say the decision followed deep talks. They wanted a unified voice for all Zohnathlak tribes in Manipur. The reality fell short. They found the Council drifted away from its original goals and failed to include everyone involved.

The organization made their stance clear in a recent notice. They stated, "It is felt that the Council has not evolved into the common political platform originally envisaged to collectively advance its stated objectives."

General Secretary Immanuel Pulamte and President Rev. Ros Infimate signed the notice ending the partnership. Despite the break, the group claims it remains open to future talks. They still support their shared political goals even if they go their own way. The tribe thanked those they worked with and wished the Council well.
