Guwahati: The Haflong Government College Students' Union has temporarily halted its protest following an intervention from Assam University. The decision came after university officials met with student representatives to discuss a range of academic and administrative grievances that sparked unrest on campus.
During these discussions, university authorities promised to resolve the outstanding issues within 72 hours. While the union agreed to suspend its activities, leaders made it clear that they remain cautious. They stated that the suspension is only temporary and they will carefully monitor the university's progress during this window.
The student body issued a warning regarding the deadline. They confirmed that if the university fails to meet its commitments, "the agitation will be resumed and intensified." The protest had previously disrupted the campus for several days as students pushed for immediate administrative action.
