Guwahati Traffic Police Closes Nilachal Flyover Service Lane for Repairs

Guwahati: The service lane of the Nilachal Flyover on the Adabari approach shuts down starting July 23. The Public Works Department, specifically the Jalukbari Territorial Road Division, is starting drainage improvement work. This project forces a complete halt to all traffic on the left-hand lane stretching from Adabari toward Bharalu.

Police need space to work. The shutdown protects students, pedestrians, women, senior citizens, and differently abled people. It also clears a path for emergency vehicles like fire tenders and ambulances. The Guwahati Traffic Police issued an advisory to help drivers get around the construction.

Drivers moving from Adabari to Maligaon Chariali have three choices. They can turn left at Adabari Tiniali and take the Adabari-Pandu Port Road. Alternatively, motorists can cross the flyover toward Pandu Cabin Road and hang a right at Barabazar. A third option involves driving over the flyover toward Bharalumukh, making a U-turn near the Taxi Stand, and using the service road to reach Maligaon Chariali. Those traveling to the Kamakhya Railway Station or Maa Kamakhya Temple should use these same routes.

The force expects cooperation from all road users. Officials said, "The Guwahati Traffic Police has appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic personnel, follow diversion signs, and plan their journeys in advance to avoid inconvenience during the execution of the drainage improvement work." Watch for signs and plan ahead.
