Guwahati: The Guwahati Police Commissionerate has enforced prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, surrounding 15 examination centres throughout the city. These measures, implemented ahead of the NEET-UG 2026 examination on June 21, restrict access to a 100-metre radius around each venue.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for Administration, Nirupam Hazarika, issued the directive to maintain a secure testing environment. The order aims to ensure a free, fair and transparent conduct of the examination and prevent any attempts to use unfair means through internet-based platforms, including social media applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp, X and YouTube.

Only candidates with valid admit cards, official staff, police personnel, and authorized government representatives may enter the designated zones. Anyone found violating these restrictions will face penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The restricted sites include several prominent institutions such as Cotton University, Handique Girls College, Dispur College, and Arya Vidyapeeth College. Other affected venues are PM Shri KV CRPF Amerigog, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, Kendriya Vidyalaya Khanapara, Kendriya Vidyalaya Adarsha Colony, Pragjyotish College, KC Das Commerce College, KV IOC Noonmati, PM Shri KV Narangi, B. Borooah College, Guwahati College, and Guwahati Commerce College.

These safeguards will remain active exclusively on the day of the examination to prevent potential disruptions or malpractice.
