Guwahati: Guwahati police detained 13 individuals suspected of being Bangladeshi nationals during a verification operation on Friday. Officers conducted the routine check at the RR Guest House in the Arya Nagar area, focusing on identifying illegal residents and confirming travel credentials.

The detained group included men, women, and several children. Authorities took the individuals into custody after they were unable to provide valid identification or travel documentation. Police stated that due process is being followed, noting that the agency is currently conducting a thorough investigation to confirm the nationalities and travel histories of those involved.

All detainees were transferred to the Border Branch of the Paltan Bazar Police Station for further examination. Officials are working to determine how the group entered the city and whether local networks assisted in their accommodation. A police spokesperson remarked that "a detailed investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding their stay in the city."
