Guwahati: Guwahati police arrested two suspected drug peddlers on June 19 following an anti-narcotics operation in the Panbazar area. Acting on specific intelligence, officers intercepted Rajiv Das and Rahul Ali near the railway parking lot close to Shiv Mandir.

Authorities recovered 12.69 grams of suspected heroin during the search. The suspects had concealed the illicit substance inside a soap case in an attempt to avoid detection. Officials seized the drugs in front of witnesses to ensure compliance with legal protocols.

The arrests are part of an ongoing statewide campaign by Assam Police to disrupt local drug trafficking networks. Regarding the broader investigation, police officials stated, "Police are now working to identify other individuals who may be connected to the seized contraband and to trace the supply chain behind the operation."

Both men remain in custody as investigators work to determine the origin of the heroin. A case has been officially registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
