Imphal: The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) announced the immediate imposition of Presidential Rule in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR) on Wednesday. Citing a collapse in regional stability, the government invoked Article 3 of the Yehzabo of Nagalim to shift administrative control away from the Kilo Ministry.

Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Ramkhathing Varah has been appointed to lead a team of provisional authorities tasked with managing the region. This temporary administrative structure will remain in control until, as the GPRN stated, “normalcy is fully restored.”

Alongside the governance shift, the GPRN issued a directive restricting the movement of all commodities toward Myanmar. The order prohibits the transport of goods, including petroleum products, across the border. The Naga Army has received instructions to enforce these restrictions through continuous monitoring of the border region.

While the GPRN described these measures as essential steps toward regional stability and stricter border control, the decisions are expected to disrupt trade and daily life for residents in border communities. Officials have not provided a timeline for when these administrative and logistical restrictions will be lifted.
