Imphal: Major Christian organizations, including the Baptist World Alliance, are demanding an immediate government investigation into the brutal murder of six Naga civilians. The victims were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2026, before being killed. Church leaders have condemned the violence, describing the reports of the victims being dismembered as barbaric and an affront to human dignity.
The Manipur Baptist Convention highlighted the character of those lost, stating, "The six victims included a pastor, an ordained minister, and devoted servants of God who had faithfully dedicated their lives to the spiritual nurture, peace, and well-being of society." The organization labeled the act as Satanic and noted that such violence has no place in a civilized society.
Alongside the Baptist World Alliance, the Asia Pacific Baptist Federation, the National Council Baptist Churches in India, and the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India have issued calls for accountability. They urged law enforcement agencies in Manipur and the central government to identify and prosecute those responsible to restore public trust.
Church leaders also praised the Naga community for their recent restraint and the safe release of fourteen Kuki detainees, highlighting these efforts as a model of Christian compassion. Amidst widespread anger and calls for justice, the groups appealed to all sides of the ongoing conflict to reject retaliation and continue seeking a path toward reconciliation and lasting peace.
