Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP-led government for failing to address the country's economic struggles. Gogoi argued that concerns over job creation, manufacturing, and the weakening currency are driving a mass exodus of citizens seeking better opportunities abroad.

Speaking to reporters, the opposition leader claimed that the administration is distracting the public rather than solving these urgent problems. "Indians, whether young or old, poor or wealthy, are leaving India for a better future. This is the current mindset of India which the BJP or the Prime Minister are simply choosing to ignore," he stated.

The criticism arrived on a significant day for the Prime Minister, who surpassed the 4,398-day consecutive term record previously held by Jawaharlal Nehru. With 4,399 days in office, Modi has officially become India's longest-serving elected leader.

Supporters of the government lauded the achievement. Vice President CP Radhakrishnan described the tenure as a transformative era, citing improvements in infrastructure, economic growth, and global stature. Several union ministers and international figures also offered their congratulations, characterizing the Prime Minister's leadership as a defining chapter in the history of the nation.
