Guwahati: Mayuri Das, a doctoral researcher at Gauhati University, has secured a position to present her work at the Royal Geographical Society Annual International Conference. The prestigious event will take place at Imperial College London from September 1 to 4, 2026, gathering prominent academics and geographers from around the world.
Working under the mentorship of Dr. Chandrakant Pawe, Das developed a research paper titled "Delineating the Urban-Rural Mosaic: A Data-Driven 'Inside-Out' Approach to Peri-Urban Neighborhoods in Guwahati, India." Her study offers a new perspective on the often ambiguous boundaries between city centers and their surrounding fringes.
This selection represents a significant achievement for both Das and the university, signaling increased international visibility for the institution's academic output. To support her participation, the Indian Council of Social Science Research under the Ministry of Education has awarded her a full travel grant. Gauhati University officials praised the accomplishment, noting that the recognition reflects the high standard of dedicated research conducted at the department.
