Guwahati: The Gauhati High Court shut down multiple legal challenges on August 28 regarding the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Judges dismissed businessman Shyamkanu Mahanta’s attempt to overturn a previous verdict from the Fast Track Court. The court also denied a request from Siddhartha Sharma to force the inclusion of the Singapore Coroner’s Report into the ongoing case records.
Legal proceedings grind on. Parash Baishya remains behind bars for now. The court delayed his bail hearing indefinitely. This follows the tragic death of the singer in Singapore on September 19, 2025.
Official records confirmed the cause of death shortly after the incident. A Singapore coroner ruled the event was accidental, stating, “his death was due to accidental drowning.” Investigators continue to press the case in Assam as multiple suspects face intense scrutiny over the circumstances surrounding the star’s passing.
