Fourteen Detainees Released by Naga Village Guards in Senapati

Imphal: Fourteen Kuki individuals held by Naga village guards were released on humanitarian grounds this Tuesday in Senapati district. The handover occurred at the district headquarters around 4 p.m. with representatives from the Senapati Police, Central Armed Police Forces, Assam Rifles, and local administration overseeing the process.

The group spent 27 days in custody before their peaceful release. Paotinkai Chongloi, a resident of Taphou Kuki Village and one of the former detainees, reported that the guards provided essential supplies such as clothing and blankets. He noted that the group received two meals and tea every day during their time in detention.

Reflecting on the experience, Chongloi praised the conduct of those who held them. He stated, "The humanitarian approach demonstrated during the detention period should serve as an example of compassion and mutual understanding among people." Chongloi expressed appreciation for the kindness shown to the detainees and encouraged his community to adopt a similar spirit of reconciliation.
