Four Family Members Killed in Guwahati Residential Fire

Guwahati: A devastating fire in the Jalukbari area of Guwahati killed four members of a family during the early hours of June 5. The victims, identified as 65-year-old Kuddus Ali, 40-year-old Kajoli, 30-year-old Safiqul, and 12-year-old Sahid Ali, were trapped inside their home at a rented compound in Jaymati Nagar.

The family, who originated from Krishnai in the Goalpara district, lived in the compound owned by Rehena Choudhary. The property housed ten tenant families across 11 rooms, with eight families present when the fire ignited. Local residents reported waking up to smoke and flames, but the intensity of the blaze prevented them from mounting a successful rescue.

Emergency teams from the Fire and Emergency Services, the State Disaster Response Force, and the National Disaster Response Force arrived to battle the inferno. After bringing the situation under control, crews discovered the four bodies. Officials have launched an investigation to identify the cause of the fire and determine why it spread so rapidly. Regarding the incident, local residents noted that "the blaze had already intensified by the time rescue efforts could begin."
