Imphal: The Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has condemned the killing of six Naga individuals after their dismembered bodies were recovered by security forces in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district on June 10. The discovery of the victims occurred just one day after a humanitarian effort led by the United Naga Council, along with ANSAM and the Naga Women Union, secured the release of 14 Kuki individuals in Senapati.

Hopes for a reciprocal release of the six Naga individuals were shattered by the recent violence, leaving the community in deep grief. The FNR stated, "Expectations were raised that this would be followed with a reciprocal act of releasing the 6 Nagas. Any such expectations were only met with grief."

Expressing grave concern over the escalating cycle of conflict, the forum has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities. FNR leadership is urging Kuki and Naga representatives to address their underlying grievances through constructive dialogue rather than violence. In addition to these calls for peace, the organization has requested that the Government of Manipur conduct an impartial investigation to ensure justice is served.

The forum extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the broader community, noting that they share in the pain caused by these events. "We weep and mourn with you in this hour of darkness. May the Crucified Christ grant us the resurrected hope," the FNR added in its official statement.
