Agartala: Fr. Emmanuel Kallarackal, C.S.C., died in Ireland on August 29. The Congregation of Holy Cross, Province of Northeast India, confirmed his passing in a public statement. He was a long-time educator and leader in Tripura.

Kallarackal began his tenure at Holy Cross School, Agartala, serving as vice-principal from 1984 to 1987. He returned to lead the school as principal from 1997 to 2003. In 2009, he took on a new role as the founding principal of Holy Cross College in Agartala. He held that position for a full decade until 2019.

His influence stretched across the state. He mentored countless teachers and students alike. The Congregation noted that he helped young people unlock their true potential. They credited him with shaping the academic growth of the region for generations. "His legacy can be summed up in four simple but powerful words: He lit minds. He shaped hearts," the organization stated.

The Congregation is now working to transport his remains back to Agartala. They will share details regarding the funeral and final rites once arrangements are finalized.
