Agartala: Torrential rains forced 10,905 people to flee their homes in Tripura. They now occupy 78 relief camps statewide. The State Emergency Operation Centre report shows the Manu River at Kailashahar pushed past its danger mark of 24.00 metres, hitting 24.57 metres on Thursday. Heavy water flows also threatened the Khowai, Deo, and Bijoy rivers.

Unakoti district took the hardest hit. It houses 6,068 evacuees in 35 camps. Khowai and Dhalai districts report thousands more displaced. State officials tallied 862 damaged houses, with 64 of those completely destroyed. Longtharai Valley in Dhalai recorded the bulk of this structural damage.

Fresh landslides slammed into roads at Mungiakami, Natun Chan Bari-Dasgaria, and Tirthamukh-Nuncherra. The State Disaster Response Force and local crews cleared the debris to reopen routes. While the current deluge caused no fatalities, officials noted one drowning death in Khowai earlier this month.

The India Meteorological Department expects more rain. Forecasters warned of heavy downpours between 7 cm and 11 cm in isolated spots over the next 24 hours. Government workers are now assessing the destruction. Officials said "damage assessment is underway and financial assistance will be provided after the survey is completed."
