Five Arrested After Violent Assault in Guwahati

Guwahati: Dispur Police arrested five individuals from Nagaland following an alleged assault on a local youth in the Ganeshguri area of Guwahati on June 7. The victim, identified as Simu Das from Pathsala, was reportedly targeted in a public space.

Witnesses and local reports indicate the attackers beat Das severely. During the altercation, the group reportedly threatened to shoot the victim, an act that caused significant panic among those nearby. Local residents have since expressed alarm over the incident and are calling for authorities to take strict action against the accused.

Police took the five suspects into custody shortly after the attack. Officials have not yet disclosed a motive for the violence. Investigating officers are questioning the group to determine the circumstances surrounding the event. As Dispur Police noted, "further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident."
