Agartala: Meera Srivastava, Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, finished a three-day inspection of Tripura's medical infrastructure on July 3. She tracked the progress of national health projects across Unakoti, South Tripura, and Sepahijala districts.
Srivastava spent her time meeting with local administrators and frontline staff. She inspected sub-centres and sub-divisional hospitals to see how the National Health Mission and immunisation efforts work on the ground. The team included experts from the World Health Organization and national health divisions.
In South Tripura, the group traveled to the India-Bangladesh border to gauge service availability in isolated areas. They looked at malaria control and vaccination data. After visiting the Bashpukur Sub-Centre, Srivastava praised the staff. She said, "She appreciated the efforts of district health officials and field-level workers in delivering healthcare services."
The trip ended with a mandate for local leaders. Srivastava ordered them to fix gaps in delivery and boost access to quality care across the state. Officials now face pressure to strengthen these health systems immediately.
