Kohima: Don Bosco College, Kohima, sent 375 students into the world during its ninth graduation ceremony on July 24. The event, held at the college auditorium, celebrated the Class of 2023-26. Political science graduates formed the largest group at 147. Other department totals included 49 from psychology and sociology each, 42 in history, 41 in English, 27 in education, 12 in commerce, eight in zoology, and two in botany.
Twelve students earned special honors as Nagaland University toppers under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme. Prof Jano S Liegise, Dean at Nagaland University, challenged the group to remain resilient. She told them, "Now, you are eligible to sit for any competitive exams, especially the UPSC, NPSC." She emphasized that students must handle failure with a positive attitude to reach their goals.
College Principal Fr Dr Tious Varghese called the ceremony a milestone for both the students and the institution. He urged the graduates to prioritize integrity and service over the simple act of earning a degree. Abuno Meyase, president of the Parents-Teachers Association, encouraged the class to stay curious. She reminded the graduates that this day marks the start of a new, challenging chapter.
The ceremony featured speeches from Fr Antony Thambi and graduate Ruvuomenuo Sorhie. Dr Jarani Maheo led the awards. Other attendees included Rev Fr Dr Xavier Mattam, Rev Fr CM Joseph, Rev Fr Innocent Panmei, and Rev Fr TP Sebastian. Dr Abel Kavahru delivered the vote of thanks to close the event.
