Kohima: Protesters gathered at the Super Market in Dimapur on July 20 to denounce the NEET-UG examination paper leak. Parents, educators, students, and youth demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. They also stood in solidarity with climate activist Sonam Wangchuk.
Dr. Khekugha Muru addressed the crowd as a concerned father rather than a business official. He urged the youth to take ownership of their future. "I didn't come here just because someone told me to, or to increase the headcount. I came here as a father," Muru stated. He criticized the absence of student leaders at a rally directly tied to their own education.
Kuhoto Naga echoed these frustrations. He noted that Naga students suffer when national exams fail. He challenged the community to stop waiting for personal misfortune before acting. YouTuber Khrolo Baba also spoke to the crowd, citing the disconnect between online rhetoric and real-world participation. He lamented that those willing to talk far outnumber those willing to show up.
Organizer Durlov Doley launched the event after learning that police had detained Sonam Wangchuk in New Delhi. Doley worked with the Common Public Platform and Dr. Muru to secure permissions. He intended the protest to provide a local venue for Nagaland youth who could not travel to the capital. While he admitted the event had flaws, he called the demonstration a success. The protesters waved placards and banners to demand integrity in the national testing system.
