Kohima: Dimapur Police issued a formal reminder today confirming that organizers must secure written permission before holding any public rallies, protests, or demonstrations. Authorities stated that while they respect the democratic right of citizens to assemble, these gatherings must be coordinated to ensure public safety and prevent traffic or commercial disruptions.
According to the notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, any assembly held without official approval will be classified as an unlawful assembly. The department noted that officials have a responsibility to maintain order while protecting the rights of the public.
The police also reminded citizens that specific areas remain off-limits for public demonstrations. "All forms of public gatherings remain strictly prohibited at Clock Tower in Dimapur in accordance with a government order," the official statement confirmed. Local organizations are urged to follow these regulatory procedures when planning future events to ensure they remain within the bounds of the law.
