Dimapur eyed as India's first NetZero district

Kohima: Dimapur could become India's first NetZero district. NetZero Horizon and the Good Shepherd Welfare Society pitched the plan to Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav at Raj Bhavan on July 11. They want to focus on energy, water, green jobs, and local governance.

Governor Yadav backed the proposal. He hopes the work puts Nagaland at the front of national climate efforts. The delegation invited him to a Delhi event titled "Grid to Growth" on August 29. The Governor agreed to attend as the chief guest.

This project takes cues from the Prime Minister's Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. It aims to push national climate targets down to the district level. The team plans to build a system that works for other Indian districts too. They want to bring together industry, academia, and local folks to make real gains. The roadmap includes pilot projects and policy work to lock in these sustainable changes.
