Guwahati: Dima Hasao is getting ready for a party. The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, alongside local tourism and cultural departments, will run the Dima Hasao Ethnic Fest every weekend throughout July.

Officials announced the plan Tuesday in Haflong. The festival hits major spots like Haflong Lake, the I Love Dima Hasao View Point, the Umrongso Golf Course, and Jatinga every Friday and Saturday. It draws on the summer vacation crowd to show off the area's heritage.

Visitors will find stalls selling ethnic food, handmade goods, and traditional clothing. Local performers will also host dances to highlight the district's indigenous communities. Josringdao Phonglo, chairman of Dima Hasao Tourism, said the event is about more than just sightseeing. "The festival aims to support local entrepreneurs, artisans and small businesses by creating a platform to market their products while enhancing the overall tourism experience for visitors."

The goal is simple. Boost the local economy and put Dima Hasao on the map as a go-to spot in Assam. Organizers expect the influx of guests to help small businesses thrive during the peak holiday season.
