Dikhow River Water Levels Stay Safely Below Danger Mark

Guwahati: The Dikhow River at Bihubar holds steady. Saturday readings confirmed the water level remained far below the danger threshold. At 8 am, sensors recorded the river at 95.62 metres. It hit a peak of 95.93 metres by 11 am before receding to 95.86 metres at 3 pm.

This peak sat 7.84 metres under the danger mark of 103.77 metres. The warning level for the area is 102.77 metres. State Disaster Management Authority officials are watching the river closely. They noted a downward trend in water levels by Saturday afternoon.

Reports of flooding hit Bura Namsang in the Longleng district of Nagaland on August 28. Authorities clarified this flooding had no link to the Dikhow River. The India Meteorological Department and Central Water Commission issued a yellow warning for Mon, Mokokchung, Wokha, Longleng, and Kohima districts. Light to moderate rain is expected there for the next two to three days.

Bad weather might hit parts of Assam soon. Authorities said, "The rainfall could affect adjoining districts of Assam, particularly Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat and Golaghat." Local teams continue to monitor the situation to ensure public safety.
