Shillong: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar promised on Thursday to resolve public concerns surrounding the proposed Shillong ropeway project. He expects a fix within days or weeks. The government intends to settle these disputes quickly.
Dhar defended the project, noting that officials followed all required procedures and secured necessary clearances. The state did not rush the work. It moved forward one step at a time, relying on approvals from relevant departments as explained previously by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma.
Dhar dismissed claims that the ongoing controversy stemmed from political rivalry. He argued that friction is normal when building major infrastructure. People simply need more time to grasp the project details. "It might take time for people to fully understand the process, but it was important to move forward," Dhar said.
The government remains focused on the matter. Officials have not set a firm deadline for a final resolution. There is no current plan to change the implementation schedule.
