Imphal: A delegation from the Manipur Congress, led by Legislature Party leader K Meghachandra Singh, met with officials from the National Human Rights Commission in New Delhi on Tuesday. The group submitted a formal complaint detailing what they described as worsening conditions and significant civilian suffering throughout the state.

During the meeting with the NHRC Chairman, the delegation raised alarms about reports of gross human rights violations. Meghachandra Singh stated that residents continue to face severe hardships as the region deals with the aftermath of ethnic violence that first erupted in 2023.

The delegation specifically highlighted recent security concerns, alleging that innocent civilians from both the Naga and Kuki communities have been abducted since May 13, 2026. These latest developments have intensified existing anxieties regarding the long-standing displacement and humanitarian crisis currently affecting Manipur.
