Imphal: The District Administration in Chandel, Manipur, has concluded a week-long outreach campaign aimed at connecting tribal communities with essential government services. Held from May 18 to 25, the initiative was part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Autsav 2026 under the Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan scheme. The program reached 71 inhabited villages out of the 91 identified under the scheme, with the remaining 20 villages currently deserted.

Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar reported that more than 1,000 residents participated in the nine camps held throughout the district. A primary focus of the effort was the saturation of welfare benefits, leading to 175 new Aadhaar enrolments and over 200 biometric updates. Officials from health, agriculture, forestry, and education departments were on hand to assist with the issuance of health and ration cards.

Beyond immediate enrolment, the campaign included village walks to map local resources, infrastructure, and population data. This process allowed officials to identify specific gaps in services, which the administration intends to address through future development programs. The outreach efforts reinforce the government goal of ensuring that all eligible citizens receive support through its various welfare schemes.
