Itanagar: New Delhi sanctioned 17 road projects for Arunachal Pradesh this week. The deal costs taxpayers Rs 611.17 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund for the 2026-27 cycle. The money beats the state's initial request of Rs 592.50 crore.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu broke the news on July 9. He credited the central government for the win. "Our state's development journey has received another significant boost with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways approving 17 road projects worth Rs 611.17 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) 2026-27 for Arunachal Pradesh," Khandu said.
Work spans multiple districts. Construction crews will hit East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Siang, East Siang, Changlang, Longding, Tirap, Lower Dibang Valley, Kamle, West Kameng, and Upper Siang. Key projects include the Ningcho-Langpia road, the Mirem to Resing route, and work near the Assam Rifles camp in Changlang.
State officials expect these roads to bridge gaps in remote border zones. The upgrade aims to speed up the movement of goods and people. Better infrastructure supports the state's long-term economic and strategic goals.
