Shillong: State-owned telecom operator BSNL pulled in Rs 4,418 crore in core service revenue for the first quarter of FY2026-27. This marks a 10 per cent year-on-year increase from the Rs 4,017 crore reported during the same quarter last year. Growth stems from the enterprise and mobility sectors.
Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia led a review meeting covering all 28 telecom circles. He pointed to the company's three main business engines. "The three engines of BSNL are firing together. This is an encouraging beginning, but our objective is to consistently build on this momentum throughout the year," Scindia noted.
Enterprise Business led the charge. It grew 19.2 per cent to reach Rs 1,745 crore. Consumer Mobility climbed 8 per cent to hit Rs 1,724 crore. Consumer Fixed Access brought in Rs 960 crore, up slightly from the Rs 948 crore earned last year. Scindia praised Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh West, and Karnataka as the top performers.
The Minister wants better network reliability. He ordered staff to improve OLT and BTS uptime. He also demands a lower Mean Time to Repair to boost customer experience. Execution must remain disciplined. The company needs continuous monitoring to sustain these gains.
