Guwahati: Borluit Productions has officially launched the promotional campaign for its debut feature film, Dipholu, by paying tribute to the late musical legends Zubeen Garg and Gayatri Hazarika. The event, held in Guwahati, served as the first major step ahead of the film's theatrical release scheduled for August 21, 2026.
The centerpiece of the gathering was the release of Xorogi Xopun, a romantic duet featuring the two iconic singers. Director Nekib emphasized that the production team opted for a respectful tribute rather than a standard promotional launch. He stated, "The presence of Zubeen Da’s legendary voice itself is a blessing for us. Added to that, we could record Gayatri Ba’s melodious voice. This song is more of an emotional gradient for us rather than a commercial song."
Reflecting on the recording process, Nekib shared that witnessing Zubeen Garg work was like watching an international concert, while noting that Gayatri Hazarika brought both sincerity and cheer to the studio. Members of the band Jontro, closely associated with Zubeen Garg, also performed to honor the legacy of the singers. The director noted that including the band was essential to maintaining a connection to the heart of Assam’s music scene.
Beyond the tribute, the film features music composed by Jekiv, with lyrics by Nekib and Gargee Bhattacharjee. Additional vocal contributions come from artists including Rupali Kashyap, Rakesh Reeyan, and Montumoni Saikia. Dipholu is set in an Assamese village and blends themes of humor, romance, and social responsibility.
Produced by Jekiv and directed by Nekib, the film features an extensive ensemble cast including Amrita Gogoi, Subrat Deori, and a special appearance by veteran actress Mridula Barua. This project marks the production company's transition into feature-length cinema following their success with various short films.
