Agartala: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from the 97th Battalion apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian accomplice on Sunday near the border fencing in the Bajendranagar area of Tripura. Officials intercepted the group during a routine patrol near the Kadamtala Police Station jurisdiction and subsequently handed them over to local authorities.

The detained Bangladeshi citizens are Liton Miah, 37, of Sreemangal, along with Sabuj Miah, 25, and Sayel Miah, 30, both from the Moulvibazar district. The Indian national, identified as 42-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Manik Roy, allegedly facilitated their movement. Investigators stated that the detainees had been living in India for several months and working in the fish spawn trade before deciding to return home.

The suspects were caught while attempting to cross the border with the help of local contacts. Police revealed that the group had arranged the transit through local human traffickers, Sushil Das and his son Sanjay Das. According to police sources, "The group arrived at the border area in Manik Roy's auto-rickshaw when BSF personnel caught them while allegedly preparing to cross into Bangladesh."

Following their arrest, authorities registered a case under the Immigration and Foreigners Act. The four individuals were presented before the Dharmanagar District Court on Monday. Police are currently conducting raids to locate and arrest the absconding human traffickers involved in the plot.
